What is required to learn to be a tire specialist?

Tire technicians perform a lot of functions for both passenger and commercial tires. They inspect tire and also makes sure that the tires are all properly inflated.

Tire technicians can also take inventory along with other functions like maintaining tire repair equipment and selling tires.

You need to have a high school diploma or equivalent in order to be a tire technician. Employers look for those who have had enough discipline to take care of that part of their education.

You also need to have some experience in the tire business. Some of the organizations will also offer you job training.

A tire technician also needs to have good customer service skills. Your customer is your most important product.  You always need to meet all their requirements. Proper communication is needed to meet your customerÕs requirements.

Mechanical aptitude is an added advantage. You will be operating tire changing machines and tire balancers.  Computer support has become essential for every business now. Computers are used for many purposes like inventory, payroll and even billing. If you are going to work in the tire business, you must have some basic computer skills.

You will need to be able to work with minimal supervision.  Tire companies are extremely busy. You are a member of a team and you must be able to apply your skills while others are busy doing other things.

Heavy lifting is also a part of the job. You should be capable of lifting whenever it is asked to do. You need to be able to do it safely as well.

It is also necessary for you to have a driverÕs license. A clean driving record is also needed.

In this industry you can work up to $16 per hour. You can also start working on your own business. You need to have all the qualities stated above to be a tire technician. You should be able to help a customer pick the best wheels for his car or help them fill out tire rebates. You can do a great job in this field with a little education.
